1980s

Early Database Management and Collaborative Initiatives
At the entry stage, it stared as an enterprise of database management and record keeping in the late 1980s to early 1990s. In those pre-internet days, dbase III, COBOL and FORTRAN and BASIC were popular language of information technology. In the pre-dawn era of the internet, the enterprise advised, managed, trained, and taught about these fields. It interacted with Royal Palaces at medical clinics and hospitals in the Gulf Countries. It collaborated with King Saud University, Riyadh, besides other institutions of higher education and management studies.
1990s

Digital Transformation and Global Expansion in Medical Records
In early to late 1990s, it adapted to an information system for medical records management, automation, and digitalisation of organisational processes. As the founder moved to University of Wales and Manchester Business Schools for further development of these projects, in addition to formal education, the enterprise moved to the UK, moving across places such as Jordan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and New York. It collaborated with another information technology firms in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It also formed a short-term collaboration with an Aviation Enterprise in Manila, the Philippines for 3 months.
In the mid- to late-1990s

Diversification into Biotechnology and Publishing
It transformed into Melliorium Institute, Melliorium Technologies, Melliorium Publication. It started with meliorism, as in problem-solution situation, and it expanded or transformed into broader context from three sources for the acronym: Mellifluous (mell), Organic (or) and Premium (ium). These elements represent the moto and modes of Melliorium. Hence, the parent of ICOIS included two types of activities: biotechnology activities and publication activities. Biotechnology activities aimed for developing synthetic lubricants to raise finance (working capital) for soya-based lubricant development. Its development needs pushed it to collaborate with partners at Ocean Avenue, Brooklyn New York, and (Rural Enterprises) in Alabama, the USA.
2000s

Recovery and Strategic Regional Collaborations
The New York incidents gave another push to move on, and it returned back to Singapore. There it collaborated with two SME partners: Jansol Technology and Wearnes Biotech. It marketed the latter’s R&D projects in Europe, the UK and Middle East. In South Asia, it formed relations with pharmaceutical companies in Iran, Pakistan and India. It also started as venture called, TAG Technology in Leeds, the UK.
2003

Academic Reintegration and Institutional Synergy
It returned to the academia again with the founder, by joining the North London University (NLU), in the UK, before it became London Metropolitan University through integration between NLU and Guildhall University. The NLU had strength in chemical technologies more than in management technologies, but the interaction between disciplines were conducive for interdisciplinary development. In 2004, it moved to University of London with the founder who stayed until 2008. The organisation as an entity continued in Singapore, the UK, and the Mid-East in that period. In 2009, it transformed into Melliorium Institute in Singapore and Johor Bahru, Malaysia, which carried the old names and traces of activities of the past. Based on research material support from the library of the National University of Singapore, it developed ideas and publications for intellectual fecundity.
2010s

Academic Research Center and International Alliances
In 2010, the ICOIS became an academic research centre under MII (Meliorium Institute International) in cooperation a subsidiary of University of Finance & Economics in China. It operated there 2017, and during that time, it formed alliances with University of London’s research centres and a Purdue University through the Chinese partner university.
2012

Major Security Breach and Rebuilding Phase
A group of three Chilean thief stole data, patents, storages, and all related materials at King’s cross station, London, UK. The founder was coming from Leeds on the way to Boston, the USA, for Academy of Management conference and meetings for inter-firm collaboration with firms and university. These thieves snapped a high-end PC machine, CDs, hard discs and everything else, including passport of the founder. The British Transport Police caught them a year later, and a Court in London imprisoned 1 of the thieves caught. None of the stolen things were return. The team at ICOIS had to restart building the profile.
2017

Network Expansion and Global Academic Partnerships
The ICOIS operates as an academic research entity, a network of scholars and practitioners across disciplines and industrial fields. Primarily, it has partnered with Liaoning University for research and training activities, and it publishes management and technology research. It forms a network platform to professors, students, and society. It has offices in Singapore, at Pasir Ris Link, and it has an office in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China. It has partnered with Universities in Thailand and exploring other links in the region.
2021

Institutional Upgrade and Enhanced Online Presence
It has updated its institutional support, inter-regional location, and online presence. Dedicated sections include directors, members and meeting participants. This history merely captured the path of ICOIS. The purpose, functions and scope separately describes its cores.
